Mental Health Support and Education

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Groups

NAMI Connecticut welcomes individuals who are living with mental health challenges.  We support the principles and process of recovery and believe that with appropriate supports and in some cases treatments, anyone can reach and maintain recovery from mental illness.

We offer free peer-led support groups that are open to anyone who needs support as they recover, regardless of diagnosis. People in recovery who have been trained by NAMI Connecticut facilitate each group. For a listing of NAMI Connection groups, scroll down toward the end of this page.

Young Adult Support Groups (18 - 29 years old)

Sometimes support is important for someone dealing with mental health challenges, especially peer support from other young adults.  That’s what the NAMI Young Adult Connection groups are all about.

The groups were developed by young adults for young adults.  They are run by young adults who have been trained in the support group model. The groups are designed to help young adults stay positive, healthy and reach their goals through peer support and community sharing.  You can drop in and talk about what’s on your mind and meet other young adults who have or are going through many of the same experiences you are.

Get Connected . . . Stay Involved!

In Our Own Voice

The program is a prime vehicle for NAMI Connecticut’s outreach and education to lessen the stigma associated with mental illness. Presenters receive a small stipend for each presentation they deliver. Presentations usually run an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes in length.

Anyone interested in finding out more about IOOV or how to become a support group facilitator or IOOV presenter can contact the Recovery Programs Coordinator at
