NAMI Connecticut’s Mission Statement:

NAMI Connecticut provides support, education and advocacy for Connecticut’s citizens affected by mental illness.

In Support of Our Mission We Offer:

Message from the Executive Director

Hello and thank you for visiting the NAMI Connecticut website.  Like the organization, our website is meant to be your resource for information on mental health and mental illness.  Whether you are a family member or friend of someone with mental illness or someone living with mental health challenges, we are here to help.  If you’re looking for a support group, an education course, a community presentation or other assistance our website should be able to help you.

NAMI Connecticut has been operating in the state for over 30 years, growing from a small group of family members to a statewide membership organization. We offer support, education and advocacy related to mental health concerns to family members, people living with mental health challenges and the community at large.

We rely almost exclusively on trained volunteers who deliver our education courses, facilitate our support groups and give of their time to advocate locally and at the state level.

NAMI Connecticut is here when someone is in crisis and looking for someone to talk to. We are also here as family members, and those with mental health challenges continuing on our personal journeys of recovery.  We’re here for you to Find Help and to Find Hope.

Thank You.

Kate Mattias, MPH, JD

A Resource for Young Adults: StrengthofUs

StrengthofUs is an online community developed by NAMI and young adults. It’s designed to inspire young adults impacted by mental health issues to think positive, stay strong and achieve their goals through peer support and resource sharing. We believe every young adult deserves to feel hopeful, supported and encouraged to love who they are.

StrengthofUs provides opportunities for you to connect with your peers and offer support, encouragement and advice and share your real world experiences, personal stories, creativity, resources and ultimately, a little bit of your wonderful and unique self. It is a user-generated and user-driven community; so basically it’s whatever you make it. Everything here has been developed and created by and for young adults with you specifically in mind…because we think you’re worth it! We hope every time you visit, you find hope, encouragement, support and most of all, the strength to live your dreams and goals.
